In the designing phase of JT-60SA, several engineering target plasmas were identified in order to set engineering boundary for the machine design. They highlight plasma operational domains where JT-60SA can contribute to the fusion research. Assessment of the expected plasma performance and development of operation scenarios are underway in JAEA. Various codes have served for this purpose. TOPICS, the integrated modelling code suits, has been used the most intensively in corporation with other codes like OFMC; for analysis of energetic ions, MARG2D; for analysis of ideal MHD stability, and so forth. The divertor code suits SONIC has been used for analysis of divertor and SOL. In the presentation, the current status of assessment and development of JT-60SA plasma will be reported. Modelling of the integrated control in JT-60SA using TOPICS successfully demonstrated control of both normalized beta and loop voltage simultaneously. Evaluation of the toroidal rotation profile driven by combination of NBs with various energy and injection geometry as well as effect of NTV on the rotation profile is also discussed.

Comparisons between flux driven full-f gyrokinetic simulations and gradient driven delta-f gyrokinetic simulations are discussed with respect to i) turbulent momentum transport and ii) plasma size and power scaling of ion temperature gradient driven turbulence. In the former problem, the ambipolar condition including both turbulent and neoclassical transport is essential in estimating momentum transport and resulting plasma rotation profiles. In the latter problem, self-consistent interactions between temperature fluctuations and turbulent transport under a local power balance condition lead to the power degradation of confinement. These mechanisms are unique to full-f simulations and give significant impact on the estimation of plasma confinement performances.
